MBTours Golf in Scotland

Guaranteed tee times on the St Andrews Old Course.
We are able to offer guaranteed tee times for that once in a lifetime round on the St Andrews Old Course. For further information please view our Old Course Packages.

The Old Course ballot.
50% of all Old Course tee times are reserved for the daily ballot (or lottery system). MB Tours will make a ballot application on your behalf the day before you want to play. Around 4pm on the day of application we will be able to find out from the Links Trust if you have been successful. We will then contact you at your hotel to tell you if you have been successful. PLEASE NOTE. Entry into the ballot does not guarantee that you will get the opportunity to play the Old Course. During the summer months the ballot is massively oversubscribed on a daily basis.

Dress code for the golf courses.
All courses in Scotland and Ireland maintain certain standards of dress - no jeans or trainers. Visitors are requested to respect these rules and asked to wear appropriate golf attire. If you have any questions regarding dress-code please contact us.

Handicap certificates.
Maximum handicap restrictions apply at some courses. Many require golfers to show a handicap certificate prior to play. Although they are not always required, we advise that you do take a certificate with you as you may be refused play if you are unable to produce this.

Golf cart availability.
Most of the courses do not offer carts. In exceptional circumstances some courses do have access to a few but these will normally require a medical certificate. If you cannot play without using a buggy please advise us at the time of booking and we can tailor your package accordingly.

Caddies.
MB Tours are delighted to request caddies on your behalf at your chosen courses. We strongly recommend pre requesting caddies prior to your arrival. Caddies are all self employed so they cannot be guaranteed at any golf course. As a general rule caddies are approx £40 per round in Scotland and €50 per round in Ireland. At certain courses where they do not have a caddy system in operation we will be able to offer pull carts as an alternative.

Gratuities.
Tipping and gratuities are at the discretion of each individual client. If you would like to acknowledge the service someone has provided you with we recommend anything between 10% and 15%.

The weather.
In this part of the world the best way to describe the weather is as ‘unpredictable’ – you may even experience all four seasons in just one day! We like to tell you that that is part of the charm. Unfortunately we are unable to control the weather but we will keep our fingers crossed and make sure there is a wee dram waiting to warm you up when you come in from a day out in the elements.

Non-refundable deposits.
In order to secure and guarantee certain parts of your tour we need to make payments to our suppliers at hotels and golf courses prior to your arrival. Once we make this financial commitment to our suppliers we are unable to get these monies refunded should you subsequently cancel. Your deposit is used to pay for these services.

Forfeited tee times.
If you have to forfeit any tee times for any reason during your vacation MB Tours will be unable to refund you for any lost monies. This is due to the fact that we have to pre pay each of the golf courses for all rounds of golf in order to secure and guarantee them as part of your itinerary. If at all possible we will try to rearrange tee times so that you do not loose any of your pre paid rounds of golf but we can not guarantee that the course diaries will permit this.

Travel insurance.
We strongly recommend all clients take out personal insurance cover prior to their visit. This will reimburse non-refundable trip deposits and payments, medical expenses, cover your personal belongings, baggage and travel delays should you encounter any problems.

Claiming back the VAT on our tour.
Unfortunately you are unable to claim back the VAT on your tour. VAT is only refundable on purchases you buy once you are in the country. VAT cannot be reclaimed on services.

Forms of payment accepted.
MasterCard, VISA, personal cheques, and electronic transfers

Credit card supplements.
MB Tours try to offer our clients the best possible value by passing onto you the savings we receive from our suppliers. If you pay us by credit card we are charged a commission from the credit card company. In order to avoid us passing this additional charge on we kindly request you arrange to wire transfer and electronically transfer the money directly from your bank to MB Tours.

Transportation options.
We are delighted to offer clients the option of either a private vehicle with personal driver/guide for the duration of your vacation or rental cars should you prefer to self drive.

Charges for additional drivers.
If you have a self drive package, the insurance will cover 1 driver per vehicle. If you would like to add additional drivers to your car hire, this can be arranged and paid for locally.

Age limit for rental vehicles.
There is a minimum age of 21 and a maximum age of 65 for all clients wishing to rent vehicles. If you fall outwith these age categories please contact us and we will be able to arrange a rental accordingly for you.

Driving directions.
Maps and driving directions will be waiting in your rental vehicle for you upon arrival.

Contact telephone numbers.
Contact numbers for your chosen properties, golf courses and restaurants will be provided to you upon arrival along with a 24 hour emergency contact telephone number.
