Loop Head Peninsula
Loop Head is one of the most remote and wonderful places in Ireland. Not many miles from some of the top resorts, it remains a place to itself, protecting the waters of the Shannon estuary from the open ocean. A whitewashed lighthouse stands in an enclosure at the tip of the head, but there are no shops, no signposts, nothing but birds and wild flowers and cliffs and the Atlantic surf.
