Shopping and sightseeing in Edinburgh

From designer labels to souvenirs, Edinburgh’s shops have it all. Shoppers can wander in the shadow of the city’s famous castle as they explore the souvenir shops on the Royal Mile or hunt for a bargain in the unique boutiques situated alongside the castle gardens. Edinburgh is also home to the exclusive Harvey Nichols store, where designer products and fine restaurants are combined to form an essential stop for any shopping enthusiast.

Edinburgh has more attractions in the city centre per square foot than any other European capital. As for sightseeing most of the city’s attractions are located in the Old Town, a medieval heart in the centre of a modern city. Most places and things of interest in the Old Town of Edinburgh are historical in nature. One of Edinburgh's most famous attractions is the Scott Monument a neogothic monument dedicated to Sir Walter Scott - one of the most recognizable tall spires in the city. The Royal Scottish Academy and the National Gallery of Scotland are both centrally located with other attractions including the Museum of Scotland, the Royal Museum, the Museum of Childhood and the Writers' Museum on the Royal Mile all near to hand too
